What is a Utah Concealed Carry Permit
Once you have applied for and been granted a Utah Concealed Carry Permit, you will be able to carry a concealed personal defense gun to most places in Utah. There are a few places, like federal buildings, courtrooms, airports, and other places otherwise posted.
So what’s the benefit of having your concealed carry permit? First of all, there’s the obvious benefit of being able to protect yourself. Once you have your concealed carry permit, you’ll also be able to purchase firearms without having to obtain a background check. You’ll also be able to carry your weapons with you in your car while traveling.
What about Open Carry? Sure, you can carry a gun openly in Utah. Utah is an open carry state. While I don’t want to argue with those who open carry and exercise their constitutional right to bear arms openly, I feel that carrying concealed has numerous benefits. Consider for a moment a situation where you actually need to use your personal defense gun. A person who would attack innocent people is most likely to target those that they view as a threat before innocent people. So, while you are exercising a right to open carry, you may draw unwanted attention to yourself (not to mention all of the people who will be freaked out when they see your gun).
Carrying concealed also means that you have received special training in handling firearms. It takes care and caution to appropriately handle your concealed carry on a daily basis. The choice is yours of course, but we would love to have the opportunity to teach you your concealed carry class.
