Concealed Carry Review of Walther PPS

Walther PPS Review, a Utah CCW perspective

Wow!  Take a look at this amazing Concealed Carry for your Utah CCW.  This is amazing!  I love Walther’s slogan:  More conceal, less carry.  Check out all of the features:

  • Ambidextrous Magazine Release
  • Two Magazine Sizes (Third Optional)
  • Loaded Chamber & Cocking Indicators
  • Small & Large Backstrap
  • Trigger Safety
  • Internal Striker Safety
  • Walther QuickSafe™ Safety

So why would you want this for your Utah Concealed Carry?  This Utah CCW is less than one inch width (.91) and weighs 19oz.  The adjustable pistol grips are super for changing the pistol to your hand.  The adjustable back strap also acts as a safety feature (pull it off and it won’t work).  You can pick this up in a .40 or 9mm.

How about for my Utah Concealed Carry?

The low profile and light weight of this pistol make this an excellent choice for your Utah CCW.  You can pick this up for around $650.  You probably won’t love how this pistol fires, but you’ll love the comfort and portability of this firearm.  Can’t go wrong with this pistol for you Utah Concealed Carry.  Compare the small profile of this concealed carry to the Walther PPK chambered in .380 ACP.

Looks like a great carry piece, especially in the .40 cal. I am considering purchasing one, but want to try one out first. Anyone know where I can rent one in Utah, SLC area? It seems to compare really well to the Glock 26, but a bit narrower. Also, anyone have any experience with the removable back strap? I’m curious if it has had any malfunctions due to it since it’s a new feature.

I am a Utah CFP holder who carries daily. I have both the Walther PPS in 9MM and .40 S&W. They are both state of the art weapons, safe, easy to conceal and scary accurate if you do your part. The recoil from the 9MM is almost benign, recoil from the .40 is a bit stouter but nothing compared to my Colt Agent Series 90 .45 ACP. I suggest that you order your carry leather now and avoid the knashing of teeth that’s gonna cause. This appears to be a Glock world we live in and short shrift has been given to the Walther line in the way of leather. This pistol, in either caliber, will serve you in good stead. Remember, ALWAYS carry. Carry multiple magazines in case of a failure and be tactically aware at all times. May the “force” be with you.

“You probably won’t love how this pistol fires…”

Not sure what you mean here. I would consider the recoil to be “tart” but managable and fun to shoot. This is not a gun for a two hundred round session but is great for a box or two at a time. The accuracy of my pps in .40 S & W is as good as any semi I have fired!

Got mine in 9mm a couple of weeks ago, put 150 rounds though it in one session. Towards the end the groups were opening up to about 4″ (10 yds), it was definitely me getting tired. The first two rounds I fired made one ragged hole in the 10 ring! I LOVE this pistol, its my 4th Walther and the one I will always carry.

The IWB holster for a Glock 19 will fit the PPS, thats what I’m using right now in Kydex. I ordered a leather holster that will be here shortly.

As long as you do your job, this pistol will do its job.
