Natural Disaster and Emergency Preparedness

What gun would you take in a natural disaster?

What gun would you take in a natural disaster?

With the recent earthquake in Haiti, I’ve been thinking a lot about what I would do in a natural disaster.  What things would I need to survive?  How could I make it?  Would it be like Hurricane Katrina where Constitutional rights were violated and people had their firearms taken from them?  Would all lawlessness prevail even in the suburbs of Salt Lake City?

This post is about what I would do in a natural disaster situation.  I’m open to your suggestions but here’s what I’ve come up with for now.

I’ve got my 72 hour kits ready to go with food, water and all of the good little things we’re always told to have.  More specifically, I’m getting together a self-defense grab-n-go bag.  In the picture above, I’ve placed a few essential things that I’d grab in a quick hurry.  The green bags on the left contain my first aid kit.  So here’s what I’ve got in my little bag:

A box of .40 S&W HPs

50 rounds of .223

Lubricant

Flashlight

Extra batteries for my red dot

small cleaning rag

My Glock 22

AR-15 on the side

Any thoughts would be appreciated?  What are you planning on taking?
