Why should you get a Utah Concealed Firearm Permit?

To start off, your Utah permit is valid in over 30 states. That means that you will be able to carry a fully loaded, concealed firearm in a state where your permit is recognized (Colorado, Florida, Michigan and New Hampshire only recognize the Utah permit from Utah residents). Take a look at the following map to see where the Utah permit is recognized. States with a Red or Black color recognize the Utah permit.

Cost:

The class will cost $75 and prepayment is required to reserve your seat (Google Checkout Button below). In addition to the 4 hour class, you will receive everything that you need to get your Utah permit (fingerprints, notary stamp, passport photo and a photocopy of your driver license). After the course is over, our instructor will hand deliver the application for you. Space is limited and classes are filling up fast so register below to reserve your seat. After you have registered, we will contact you with information about prepayment. In addition to the $75 for the class + materials, you will have to pay the State of Utah $65.25 for the actual permit (the State accepts checks and credit cards). You can send that payment along with our instructor to Utah.

Know where to start?

• First of all, there are certain requirements that the state of Utah has set in order for you to get your concealed carry permit.
• Here’s a list of Utah Concealed Carry requirements:

1. You must be at least 21 years of age to receive your Utah Concealed Carry permit.
2. You can’t have any of the following convictions:
3. Felony
4. Violent crime
5. Offense involving alcohol**
6. Illegal use of controlled substances or narcotics**
7. Moral turpitude (crimes against community morals)**
8. Domestic Violence
9. **Please note that some offenses require a waiting period but do not preclude getting a permit.
10. If a court has adjudicated you as mentally incompetent then you are not allowed to obtain your Utah concealed carry permit

SALT LAKE CITY, UT — The Utah legislature is considering a bill that is meant to encourage concealed carry in private businesses. Under Utah law, a private business can restrict those who carry concealed on their property by either posting a sign that firearms are prohibited or by informing their employees that carry a concealed firearm is not allowed. Traditionally, if someone where to come onto the private property, pull a firearm and injure someone, the private property owner could be held liable for the injury. Under H.B.380 a private employer would be held liable for the actions of one of its employees that pulls a firearm. The Text of the legislation reads as follows:

(1) Except as provided under Subsection (2), a private property owner, who knowingly
allows a person who has a permit to carry a concealed firearm under Section 53-5-704 to bring
the firearm onto the owner’s property, is not civilly or criminally liable for any damage or harm
resulting from the discharge of the firearm by the permit holder while on the owner’s property.
(2) Subsection (1) does not apply if the property owner solicits, requests, commands,
encourages, or intentionally aids the concealed firearm permit holder in discharging the firearm
while on the owner’s property.

Marlin 795 .22 LR Accuracy at 25 yards

I’m pretty sure that those two up top were more my mistake than the firearm’s problem.  I was just shooting off the bed rail on my truck.

I also brought some pennies that I had taped up on a cardboard target.  A friend said that the .22 probably wouldn’t punch a hole through the penny.  This is also at 25 yards.

The scope I selected is the Bushnell rimfire 3×9 for $30.  All in all, I’m rather happy with the accuracy of this rifle.  Several people have complained about the trigger pull.  I concur that it’s not nearly as nice as my Remington 700 out of the box.  There appear to be a lot of folks that have done an aftermarket trigger job on these guys…more to come on that.  What do you think?  Have you shot one of these?
